Following the recent review of Royal Patronages undertaken by the Royal Family, NIAB can announce that His Majesty King Charles III will become NIAB’s new Patron.

This maintains NIAB’s Royal Patronage from the reigning monarch going back to the days of our first patron, King George VI. The late Queen Elizabeth II was our Patron for the entirety of her long reign, visiting NIAB on three occasions.

NIAB CEO, Professor Mario Caccamo said: ‘We’re honoured that King Charles III has chosen to continue the Royal Family’s century-long association with NIAB. We look forward to working with His Majesty as our Patron, as NIAB continues developing the science behind regenerative agriculture and translating cutting-edge research into practical applications for British growers.’

Dr David Buckeridge, Chair of NIAB’s Board added: ‘Food security, climate change and the loss of biodiversity must all be addressed as we transition to sustainable farming and land use. I speak on behalf of NIAB’s Board to recognise that the support of HM King Charles III as our patron will be invaluable as NIAB puts plant science into practice to rise to these exciting but essential challenges.’
