NIAB TAG is making its popular variety and seed handbook widely available to growers and industry for the first time this spring.
Formerly known as the ‘Seeds Handbook for Agronomists’ the publication is being re-launched as the ‘Variety and Seed Compendium’ for 2013.
In the past distribution was limited to NIAB TAG ‘seed’ members only and considered a trade secret because of the comprehensive range of seed, agronomy and market information on all major arable and livestock crops grown in the UK contained within its 300 pages.
“With such positive feedback and continual requests for copies we’ve taken the decision to make the handbook publically available with discounts offered to our Network members,” explains NIAB TAG’s Juno McKee.
“With comprehensive information on most popular varieties, including interaction tables and NIAB TAG’s cereal, oilseed and pulse Classified Lists it’s an invaluable guide, especially on deciding on future cropping strategies when used in conjunction with our variety guides.”
It also contains information on end uses for grain, seed standards, crop seed certification areas and crop areas, historic meteorological data and other useful information for cereals, oilseeds, pulses, grasses, maize, potatoes and sugar beet.
The 2013 Variety and Seed Compendium is available for £108 with discounts for NIAB TAG Network members. To pre-order a copy contact niabtagnetwork [at] niab.com (, )call 01223 342344 or click here
